More info on FIFA Latin America 2000 Patch

Xavier Baez from FIFALA mailed me some more info about his FIFA Latin America 2000 Patch. Every league in the patch will have it's own animated flag, just like the Argentinian you can see below.

It is Ran Bandanes who is the creator behind all the flags. A new beta version of SMP (Super Mexican Patch) is available on FIFALA. It includes the mexican flag, league and classic teams.

The upcoming patch will include new turfs. Screenshots of those will soon be released.

Barcelona kit

Here is a screenshot of Nick Kojucharov's upcoming Barcelona kit. He tell me that he will try to get the Barcelona and the MANU kit ready in a short period of time. He is very busy right now, so I don't know when we will get them. Again he is using the 64 color technique, which make the kit look fantastic! Let's enjoy with the screenshot until he is ready with it.

Poll Updated!

Finally! Today I've managed to update the poll. The last poll's question is: "Is your favourite team included in FIFA 2000?". And the results are: from 7200 total voters, 4392 people voted "Yes" and 2808 people voted "No". So there are still about 40% of the FIFA community who don't have their favorite team in the game. =( Now let's just hope that next year EA Sports will include even more leagues to the game so this number of people who says "No" will be much more decreased. =)

Yes [4392 votes | 60%]

No [2808 votes | 40%]

Now, for the current poll, the question is "Would you like a Soccer Gaming Online Champions League 2000 (SGOCL2000) patch?". Thanks to the future project coordinator, Niels Tieman for the question of this poll. He has asked me to ask this question to the FIFA community to know how well would the response be if they make this patch.

Why no updates?

Sorry for not updating yesterday. I had some technical problems with my Frontpage 98 version. I had to reinstall it, but since I couldn't find the CD I was pretty helpless. Updating with notepad seemed a little bit difficult with all the tables and advanced HTML we use in the downloads section. Fortunally all my problems are now fixed and I hope I get all my files (25) I have received the last days up to day.

Nick Kojucharov sent me his new Juventus kit yesterday. It looks fantastic and it is definitive worth to check out. Look at the screenshot below:

Be sure to download it now!

New 64 Colours Technique for Kit!

The man, Nick Kojucharov has done it again, folks! After the great 3D turf patch, he has come out with a new technique that can use 64 colours in the kits in FIFA 2000, instead of the obsolete and plain two or three colours. And this is really the one who break the three colours barrier, guys! This is also a very hot issue at our forum right now, so you might want to take a look at the forum too. Now, as far as I know, there's also some people who has found and learned this technique, but I do have some confidence and some reason to believe that Nick is the one who come up first. To show off the capabilities of this technique, he also send me this screen shot of an away jersey of Sao Paulo.

Downloads Section Updated

Well, like Kristoffer has said earlier, the downloads section has been updated today with some new utilities such as FIFA MRA, Front Name Editor, Ditty Importer, and a different version of it, the Music Editor. Beside all of that, Lior has also updated the menu on the kits page for more easy browsing. =) So, if you have any great idea to add more convinient to the downloads section for all of us, please feel free to contact either or to tell them your thoughts.

New utilities

I have received two new utilities today. The first one is a front name editor. It makes it possible to add the front name with the player, not only the first letter and the last name. The front name editor by Jasper is 703 kb big and it's definitive worth downloading if you want to create you own roster and patches more realistic.

The other utility is another music editor called Music Edit 2000 (219 kb). It developed by Daniel Ulloa Dormond, which works over at FIFA Costa Rica. This editor is developet only for FIFA 2000, not NHL like the Ditty editor is.

There are also some other updates in the downloads section. Head over to the downloads news page for more details.

New Guidelines

Now I and Lior are tired of people that don't read the guidelines on the submission page. It clarely stands that adboards, kits and balls MUST be sent in to Lior. The other files to me. From now on, WE WILL NOT ADD ANY FILE WHICH IS SENT TO THE WRONG PERSON! If file is missing a readme.txt with detailed installation instructions and if it's not zipped, IT WILL NOT BE ADDED!

We also hope that you don't ask us about making kits and rosters to you. We don't make the downloads, just add them to the downloads section. We can not either give support on how you make a download for FIFA 2000.

We do this because I and Lior are tired of receiving 40 emails every day!

Birmingham City Patch!

My mate Charles Pearson has found a way to take second division teams that have been included in FIFA 2000 and move them to their respective first divisions with full commentary! He just swaps teams, meaning a current first division team will get "relegated."

The first patch we have is replacing Bradford City in the Premiership with Birmingham City. You can download it here. If you like this, there will be more to follow.

On another note, take a look at the current second division teams here, then go to the forum topic I setup called Promote Your Favorite Second Division Teams! and cast your vote for the team you'd most like to see added to it's first division in FIFA 2000.

Now, I'm quite sure that most of you will agreee to say that this patch is great once you have seen it in action, so I included some screen shots below. This upcoming grass texture patch from Nick Kojucharov should be available to download in the next 24 hours, so stay tuned! Meanwhile, enjoy this screen shots... =)

The 1st FIFA 2000 Roster Released

Yeah! The first initial release of the famous Jochen Tree's accurate roster (maybe it's better called Treebeard's FIFA Roster now) for FIFA 2000 is out! Get yours here now. Jochen has also add some of your favorite teams and players. Here's what he said:

I have also added Pele to the Brazil 1958, Brazil 1970, New York Cosmos and Santos Classic Teams; Ronaldo to Inter, Djorkaeff to Kaiserslautern and Galatasary to the Turkish League.

I know that EA have left out many players from squads.
I would like people to email me at [email protected] with names and details of key players that are missing from the game with, if possible players that can be used to edit so they can be included i.e. players EA have included that they should not have.

Wow! Pele, Ronaldo, Galasaray... that's great! I'm sure that the future version will also address the issue of wrong hairstyles, skin, etc. Make sure you download it here. Until then, enjoy! =)

Tips and Tricks Needed

Due to the fact that the computer's AI in FIFA 2000 has been totally improved (which is also causing more though defense), they can learn your style of play, adjust themselves, and stop you from beating them again. What I want to do here is to make a tips and tricks page, so you can choose one of our vast variety of tactical plays in order to raise your level a step forward from the computer.

So, to help me compile the first database (hopefully will be available in this week), I need a little favor from you guys to send me any tips and tricks you got at this address: . Full credit will be given. Thanks. =)

PlayStation Review

Computer Games Online has taken a look at FIFA 2000 for the PlayStation platform. Here's some excerpts:

FIFA 2000 looks very, very nice, considering it's on the PSX. The camera flows smoothly, and it never loses track of the action. Players are animated extremely well, and though the player models seem tiny, they are well constructed and look very realistic. Close-ups and crowd shots reveal the PSX's limits big-time, but the in-game graphics look sweet, and that forgives a lot.

What distinguish this one from the other reviews is the score they gave to the audio. While many other reviews think that the audio in the US version seemed to take a little step back (especially the commentators that all of you have complain about =), the writer of this review; The Freshman, thinks differently. He gave it a 5 out of 5! Read the rest here to find out what he think about.

FIFA Cup Goes International

I've got some breaking news for all of you who want the FIFA Cup to be held in your country. The organizer of the tournament, Steve has decided to bring this tournament to FIFA 2000 players around the globe due to many requests for it. Here's what he told me:

The FIFA Cup is going international! There will be FIFA Cups for New Zealand, Australia, Latin America, and Continental Europe, although the competitions will most likely be by country. The site should be up in a couple of days, or maybe even a couple of hours, and it will eventually be in English, auf Deutsch, en français, y en español.

Yeah, I know how you feel, "But there's still many other FIFA 2000 players besides in these countries! In my country for example. Why don't they hold it here?". Well, if your country is not listed here, don't be to sad. This is only the beginning... I'm sure if there's many requests from your country, he will run it in your country, too. =)

Even Another Review

FIFA 2000 is beeing reviewed on many places in these days, I've found one new.

The Swiss GamesWeb have made a review of FIFA 2000 in flash, which is something completely different from other sites. Really original! It also look nice. They have given FIFA 2000 4 1/2 out of 5 stars, which is pretty good. Click here to check it out if you understand German.

Just got to say that I didn't receive FIFA 2000 today and now am really pissed off! Hopefully will I get it tomorrow, if not I will go nuts.

Soccer Gaming Review

Yeah guys, that's right, our home made review has arrived early this morning. It includes very interesting informations about the audio, graphics, game play, options, etc. Here's what Ric have to said in the end of his thoughts:

If you took the best of every game in the FIFA series and put it together in one package, you’d have a better game. But, honestly, FIFA 2000 still comes out on top when compared with any other of the FIFA games, and basically, FIFA 2000 stands at the top of the pack when compared to ANY other soccer game made to date.

Go ahead, read the rest here and you'll find out how this incredible soccer game series from EA Sports keep pushing the envelope every year with a little bit sacrificing.

Oh, and a little extra for you: Jared Medina has also done an interesting reviews about FIFA 2000 over at Digital Sports. If our home made review haven't satisfied your appetite yet, maybe this review can. =)

FIFA Ladder

Daniel from the european edition of Heat.net emailed me and asked if we (the FIFA community) was interested in a FIFA competion over at Heat.net. He didn't specify which version of the game which will be played(probably FIFA 2000), when or if there are going to be a competion or not. The service is completely free and you can also win prizes. So if you are reading this Daniel, I'm sure many are interested.

Broken links

I have got a lot of emails lately telling me that the English, French and Spanish version of the demo is not working any longer on EA Europe's server. It seems like they have been deleted. Probably because they took a lot of bandwith from the server since so very many downloaded the demo from that place. Since this were the only known place where you could download the French and Spanish version of the FIFA 2000 demo, it is very sad. Hopefully we will find you guy's some mirrors where you can download the French or Spanish demo.

Matthaeus Join Electronic Arts

Thanks to my mate, Chris Krohm, I had just found this interesting article about EA Sports recruiting Lothar Matthaeus as a councellor and a motion capture talent for as long as three years. Here's the document after I did some transalating to English:

Munich (ots) - Record national player Lothar Matthaeus enters into the development of computer games. A report from the magazine "GameStar" according to the soccer professional of many years will function as a councellor during the optimization of soccer simulation. Matthaeus is the third behind so far after the golf player, Tiger Woods and the basketball all-star, Michael Jordan, who closed an exclusive contract with Electronic Arts.

"I am pleased to bring the inputs of 20 years professional soccer into the development of the plays with", said the 38-Jaehrige. According to "GameStar", apart from its councellor function, Matthaeus is also recruited three years long to be a motion capture talent for the EA Sports' soccer games series.

The real document is available in German, which can be found here, at Express Online's site.

    FIFA 2000 Full Review

Well, it seems like Salty, the soccer guru at our main portal, GA Sports has done it again... he has posted his full scoop on the latest edition of their FIFA cinematic series. Here's a little chunk of it:

In actual play, FIFA 2000’s default speed appears to be a bit slower than its predecessor, FIFA 99, which will be a welcome change for the octogenarian gamers, or simply those afflicted with faulty pacemakers. I found the default pace well balanced, and more than adequate for tactical play. To be clear, those enamored with FIFA 98’s Kuala Bear pace will not find solace here. The game emphasizes real game strategies, and the new shielding logic, in particular, indeed complements the gameplay experience. Depressing the shield button buys the jostling players some valuable seconds to gain better positioning for a pass.

He also gave a 93% overall score to the game. Looks good, eh? So make sure you give it a read if you have the time.
