Not Much Happening... But We'll Do Our Best
Take a quick trip around most of the FIFA 2000 sites you'll see that general news is abnormally slow.
Here are FIFA 2000 Online, we've hit a bit of a dull patch just like most of the other sites, mostly due to the absense of our top news reporter, Mike. Mike lives in Indonesia and when I last spoke to him he told me that he didn't have a chance to post news as there was rioting going on near his house. Let's all hope that Mike is fine, and he can make it back to FIFA 2000 Online in good time. He told me that he has an absolute abundance of news to post when he returns any day.
I was able to find one good update over at Euro-Ball. The good guys over there have put updated their downloads page again, this time wth a groovy Bugs Bunny turf, and some Israeli kits. Hope this will keep you happy until we can get some real news.

FIFA 2001 Info - Internet Play
More news to come from www.fifa2000.com concerns FIFA 2001. In a new addition to their Comment and Feedback page, EA have replied to a few of the fans emails with a few hints as to what will feature in FIFA 2001. Here are a few of the replys EA posted:
- ONE OF OUR MAIN GOALS AT THIS TIME IS TO TRY TO CREATE MORE OPEN SPACE ON THE PITCH. IT'S TRUE THAT MAKING THE FIELD LARGER IS ONE POSSIBLE WAY TO DO THIS...
- IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT PHIL AND JULIE NOT ONLY WATCH A LOT OF SOCCER, THEY HAVE BEEN AROUND THE GAME FOR MOST OF THEIR LIVES. STAY TUNED TO SEE IF FIFA 2001 GOES BACK TO AN ENGLISH VOICE...
- WE'RE DEFINITELY LOOKING INTO INTERNET MULTIPLAYER FOR 2001!
- WE ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING WAYS TO POTENTIALLY SLOW DOWN THE ACTION WITHOUT LOSING ANY OF THE FUN. BUT ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE IS AN UNDERSTANDABLE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "REAL LIFE" AND VIDEO GAMES. WHAT MIGHT BE PERCEIVED AS NORMAL ON ONE MIGHT NOT NECESSARILY APPLY TO THE OTHER.
- WE REMOVED IT (STADIUM SELECTOR) FOR 2000 TO MAKE THE FRONT-END PATH SHORTER. WE ARE CONSIDERING ITS RETURN FOR 2001.
- TO CLARIFY, PORTUGAL WAS DEFINITELY NOT IGNORED. PORTUGUESE TEAMS DO NOT APPEAR IN FIFA 2000 DUE TO LEGAL REASONS, NOT BECAUSE THEY AREN'T A GREAT LEAGUE.

Very Good News!
OK, now I have some very good news for you guys out there waiting patiently for the SGOCL 2000. It looks as though the patch will be released a lot sooner than expected. Simon Shepherd, the 64-colour kits guru has helped me complete all 32 Champions League jerseys which takes a huge chunk out out of the proposed release time. The rosters guy from TUDU has also joined the team - Marijn Akerboom - and at his current work-rate it looks like they'll be finished in a couple of weeks too. The Sky Sports ingame layout (yeah yeah, I know they don't cover Champions League games! It just looks really good) is about half-way there. So basically this means that the release date could be cut from mid-March to mid-February! Stay tuned.

Turfs Day, Source: Euro Ball
The guys over at Euro-Ball declare this day as the official "turfs day". Here is what they had to write:

FIFA 2000 Super Competition
Nerdblaster has kindly asked me to spread the words around about his new FIFA 2000 competition called the 'FIFA 2000 Super Competition' that have been opened at this address. Please feel free to write him at to do so.
The competition itself uses ladder system, and it supports up to 10 players for each country. There will also be a group winner in every month, and there's even a strong posibbility that he might make a Champions League and World Cup! =)

The Gamer's Choice Awards

Well, the great news is that the magic didn't stopped there... Kevin L. Kitchens of the Gamer's Voice has been kind enough to let us know that the 1999 Gamer's Choice Awards nominations have been tabulated, and I'm very happy to announced that FIFA 2000 is one of the finalists in the sports category, which -by the way- is dominated by EA Sports' games. ;)

The English Version of Chant Utility 2.0 Out Now!
Wow, what a great news to start the day! =) I've just got words from Rimoldini Fabio of FIFAMANIA, telling me that the English version of Chant Utility 2.0 has just been released today! Developed by Fabio Negroni, this utility is a must download for all patch developers, because with this, you can easily implement new chants into your patches! =)
The program is 3.5 MBs in size (which is reasonable enough, I think), and you can download it from their server by simply clicking your mouse here. You can see more great utilities that they have released such as the FIFAMANIA Installer along with other miscellaneous utilities at their utility sub-section.
Rimo has also let me know that they are looking forward to publish their English-transalated 128 colours technique for FIFA 2000 kits very soon now.

Right after all my school commitments are done, I'll be back here to dish you all lots of news! =) I'll see you all then.

What's Doing...
Good news. There is an absolutely huge amount of news to come soon. I've just checked the news inbox and Mike will be busy today updating! ;-)
I've also limited the amount of news that is being shown on this news page at one time, because a few people complained that the page took too long to load up. If you need to see news that is older than 4 days old, check out the News Archive.
It's also great to see that Lior is back into updating the Downloads section.
I'll be very busy for the next five or six days, but I hope to be able to make it to my Laptop to see what's going on here and at Soccer Gaming.

FIFALA News Madness!
The main man over at FIFA LA, Xavier Báez has just sent me a huge amount of information about the happenings over there. Most of the information are regarding the FIFA Latinamerica 2000 patch, and the rest of them are concerning the upcoming FIFA LA Network. Okay, now let's get started with the news, shall we?
First of all, he has let us know that FIFA Latinamerica 2000 now has its official site at this address. An English mirror of it should also open soon. Here are some screen shots of the patch taken from the FIFA LA 2000 Gallery:
He has also told me the latest progress on the patch. Here are what he has to said about the latest patch development:
The ingame graphics are almost complete. FIFA Latinamerica 2000 will have edited stadiums (some of them are hexedited) which will replaced all 15 stadiums that FIFA 2000 have such as: San Siro, Morumbi, Maracaná, Monumental, and San Lorenzo. The guys from FIFA Uruguay will also produce the "Centenario", the legendary stadium built in Uruguay for the first World Cup back in 1930.
He has also attached an example of the menu along with the news which you should be able to see on the right of this text. Ariel Santarelli is the one who create this menu for the Argentinian Super League.
Also in FIFA LA, you'll find information about the World Club Championship patch that was produced by FIFA Costa Rica. This patch is ready to be downloaded and it has ad boards, new ball, and of course, all the teams in the cup. FIFA Colombia will also publish their patch about the same Championship soon. On the main site, FIFA LA, there is also information about the new Chico utility. Xavier has been talking with the great guys at Euro-BALL and there will probably be a Spanish version of the program. Xavier will even help to transalate it to Spanish if needed.
He has also told me these following things about the upcoming FIFA LA Network:
The FIFA LA Network will start soon. This network will have many sub-sections for all the latin patches that want to be in our server. The first patches that will have their own sub-section in FIFA LA are the ASL (Argentinean Super League), the Chile Super patch.
I am talking about giving free web pages for patch creators and soccer fans who want have a web page. The sub-sections will be like this: http://yourname.fifala.com, and the FIFA LA Network will gladly give you the page that you want. So if anyone has a cool patch and still need a place in the web, don't hesitate to contact . And if anyone want to update and mantain the international version of FIFA LA, please also contact .
An English mirror of FIFA LA will also released soon.
Phew, what a huge update it is! Don't forget to pay a visit to FIFA LA to find the latest development regarding the FIFA Latinamerica 2000 patch or the FIFA LA Network.

" 3 new leagues,
" 3 new classic teams,
" New graphics
Still no clue about what are the 3 new leagues and classic teams, though. =( I'll contact him again and report it here as soon as I got them.

Official Word on the Official Patches
We have finally managed to get information on what exactly the two official patches for FIFA 2000 do. Ric who knows more about this has just posted the information back in our headquarters, Soccer Gaming, so I suggest you take a look at it over there now! =) Now, I'm quite sure most of the people have already knew what can the UK Commentary Patch do, but that's not the case with the smaller patch (the 2.5 MBs one), so here's a snippet of what the small patch (which is happen to be a multiplayer-related patch) can do, taken from the official readme file:
This patch addresses some of the problems that may be experienced when playing network, modem or serial multiplayer games. These problems occur when connecting different language versions of the game. After installing the patch these problems will be fixed.
The readme file also contain some other critical information such as how to install the patch correctly, the requirements, etc., so take a good look at it now before you do anything that you'll regret! ;)

FIFA 2000 Online and Euro-Ball have joined forces to bring you the most useful FIFA 2000 program to date. This program was developed by Sahar Ben Attar and a number of the other great workers at Euro-Ball. It has been named Chico and allows its users to easily install any patch or file they download from the net into FIFA 2000.

Bad News From Soccer Gaming Replays
I'm afraid I have to tell you all a bad news this time, folks. =( But before we go on to the bad part, let's start the day with the good part, first.
My good budy Robbo from Soccer Gaming Replays has posted the results of the Goal of the Month competition for December 1999 and he has finally completed the 1999 Players Lounge over there. The winner for the December 1999 Goal of the Month competition is René Elsendoorn. Congratulations, René! =) You can see René's winning replays at the Soccer Gaming Replays along with other great replays that have been nominated.
Now this is the bad news, guys... =( I'm very sorry to say that yesterday, Robbo had sadly announced that he is retiring from the mainstream FIFA replay scene, and can't continue his work over there again due to some other personal commitments in his daily life. Here are some words from him that have been posted over at the main page of Soccer Gaming Replays:
The results for the December Goal of The Month are now online, the players lounge for 1999 has been completed, and now I must say goodbye to you all and retire from the mainstream FIFA replay scene, what started out as a pastime and an enjoyable excercise has developed into a full time commitment. It has been great to be involved as a competitor and for the past two months as the editor/webmaster, but I can't offer any more commitment to the mainstream FIFA replay scene...
Due to his retirement, Soccer Gaming Replays will definetely need someone (or some people) who have the skill and ability to be the new replays webmaster to take over the site. Robbo has also let me know that he is still willing to show anyone who are interested to replace him over there how things work at the replays site, so for those of you who are interested, please e-mail him at .

TUDU 2000 Is Coming!
You heard (err... saw ;) it right, people! Ferry van Dijk has surprisingly announced to me that the work for making The Ultimate Dutch Upgrade 2000 (TUDU 2K) has already began. They have even established a new official site for it over at this address.
For those of you who doesn't have any idea about what kind of patch TUDU 2K is (not even by the previous famous series of TUDU patches, TUDU 99), it's just like POTD (now I'm sure you all know this patch... don't you?), but like the title said, it focused mainly on Dutch part of the game. It includes complete and accurate Dutch rosters, Dutch kits, Dutch stadiums, new backgrounds, new music and much more!
They are hoping to make it even better than the previous TUDU 99, so I'm sure this will also be worthy to download. If you would like to know more information about this, want to see who are in the team, or even just to check the progress, please feel free to visit them at http://www.geocities.com/tudu2k.

The Happenings At FIFALA...
My buddy Xavier Báez C. from FIFALA has sent me bunch of great updates he got in his site. Along with all the great updates he has posted on FIFALA, he has also transalated a few questions about FEd2000, which originated from the "FEd2000 FAQ" in our FIFA 2000 Forum.
First of all, Xavier has let me know that their site are more than one year old now since it was established back in December 27th, 1998. So in this opportunity, I would really like to congratulate them for all the contribution they have made for all of us FIFA fans (and for those in Latinamerica, especially) over the year. Thanx, FIFALA!
He has also told me that a second version of the Uruguayan Super Patch has been made available over at FIFA Uruguay site, and it includes:
" Classic teams (including the famous Uruguay '50 squad!),
" Penalty ball,
" Updated kits,
" A hidden team,
" Complete Uruguayan league,
" Animated flag,
" And many more!
Both Xavier and Daniel Ulloa Dormond (the webmaster of FIFA Costa Rica and the great guy who created the ) have also notified me that FIFA Costa Rica has released a brand new cool stadium that has flags in both corners, moving crowds in the stadium entrance, real Morocco mountains, and it has NO roof. Now that should fulfill your apetite for stadium add-ons for a while. ;) Xavier has also told me that in Latinamerica 2000 patch, they will include this kind of hex-edited stadiums.
Now, what Xavier is very excited about is that the Libertadores Super Patch 2000 will join the FIFA Latinamerica 2000 patch. He feels good because he have contacted people from all over Latinamerican, and now ALL the leagues, cups and teams will be included in the patch. He has told me that about 70% of the game interface has been done, and most of the patches that will be included have been updated.

FIFA MRA Updates
I've just got an e-mail from my good buddy, David Witts, who has just let me know all of the late-breaking news he got over at the FIFA MRA site. Here are some of the latest updates at the FIFA MRA site:
Couple of New Skins for Shania Twain Fans
In a board and hopeless moment during the Christmas break I started to doodle with a design idea for an MRA skin when I came across a lovely picture of Shania Twain. Please find two similar Skins for Shania for download, as I could not decide which button text colours I preferred so I decided to release both in the end. I hope you enjoy the beauty of Shania as part of your MRA!
Check out the new Shania Twain skins and the rest of fancy skins to match your MRA at the FIFA MRA site.
Patch of the Day is Officially 'MRA Compliant'
As previously reported Chris has now provided me with a file which can be added to your version of the PotD which will deem the patch MRA Compliant. I will make this file available for download over this weekend.
Please visit the official Patch of the Day site in the meantime and support their excellent work.
GFA 2000 to be Officially 'MRA Compliant'
I am currently having discussions with Stefan from GFO 2k, the German FIFA 2000 Online site, who is in the process of developing GFA 2000, the German FIFA 2000 Add-on. He is very interested in ensuring GFO 2000 is certified as MRA compliant which should benefit a lot of you as the last version of their patch GFA 99 was downloaded over 17,000 times!
I will keep you posted of progress with this exciting development.
Officially MRA Compliant Toolkit
I am currently developing web pages for providing patch developers a source of information to assist in making their patch 'Officially MRA Compliant'.
Resources that will be included are:
" Example of the text file that should be included in the patch that the MRA uses
" Example of the logo that should be included in the patch that the MRA uses
" An MRA Advertising board that can be included in the patch
" The 'Officially Compliant' logo that should be used in the patch graphics
" Sample text that should be included in patch documentation to qualify the patch as compliant
I am also looking to provide a database of all compliant patches so that you have a central resource to check on the status of all FIFA patches. Ultimately I would like this database to be maintained by patch developers so they could register their patches and then you the users could record your comments against a patch, i.e. "this patch is very compliant and loads brilliantly", or perhaps more adverse comments - but lets hope not.
If you are a patch developer and are interested in ensuring your patch is 'Officially MRA Compliant', please do not hesitate to .
Next version of the MRA is under development
To coincide with the Officially MRA Compliant project we have finalised development plans today for the next release of the MRA. The main focus on this stage of the development is to provide the easiest route to using multiple patches with your game of FIFA.
New features will include:
" Change of emphasis from Leagues to Patches
" Ability to easily reset game to default FIFA settings
" Improve installation program which is currently hindered by limitations of Visual Basic
" Provide toggle on Leagues (Patches in future) tab for Notes/Comments and a Logo for the Patch
" And hopefully, the ability to specify your 'Favorite' patches which you always like to to be installed in your game, i.e. a ball, turfs, etc.. They will always then override anything installed by another patch.
This new version will hopefully be available in the next couple of weeks to coincide with the increasing number of patches which are being certified as 'Officially MRA Compliant'.
Don't forgot to pick up the rest pieces of news (and skins ;) over at the FIFA MRA site, guys! =)

128 Colours Kit?!
I have just got a very interesting piece of news for you all from the great guys over at FIFAMANIA, telling us that they have finally figured out a new technique to use 128 colours [!] on kits, and have succesfully created the first 128 colours kit for Borrusia Dortmund (Wow, I bet Dortmund's fans are really excited now... ;) For those of you guys who are wondering how will it looks like in the game, I've managed to get a screen capture of it in action, which you all can should be able to see on the left of this text.
Here are some excerts from the webmaster of FIFAMANIA and a buddy of mine, Rimoldini Fabio:
As you have probably know, 64 colours kits actually have 64 FIXED colours; so if you edit, for examples, AC Milan kit, every team will have a beautiful kit, with beautiful shades but ALWAYS black and red, because this colours aren't editable in FIFA 2000 internal editor. =(
With this new technique, you will be able to use this 64 fixed colours only for details of the kit and use other variable colours for main parts of the kits. Advantages are a lots: you will be able to made beautiful kits which are also editable in FIFA 2000 internal editor, it will be easy create kits perfect for home and away kits (using only one FSH file).
NOTE: Jerseys that support 3 colours will have a total of 128 colours (64 variables and 64 fixed); jerseys that support 2 colour will have 112 totally colours (48 variables and 64 fixed).
They have also sent me the two screen shots above, which shows us the ability to change the primary colours in the internal FIFA 2000 editor.
Please notice that both of the kits in the screen shots are based on ONE [!] FSH file. This technique was developed and produced by Gaspare Ressa and Giuliano, which is well known as the "2G" combo. ;)
And there's even more! They have also told us that they are preparing a tutorial for creating 128 colours kits in both Italian and English that will be published at FIFAMANIA and VirtuaCalcio for FREE!
Just one more piece of news now... They have kindly asked me to pass the words around that they are in the verge of understanding the stadiums structure files (*.T3D) completely, and that they will soon publish an English version utility titled "Chant Util 2", a program that will allow everybody to modify chants in FIFA 2000!
You are also more than welcomed to give a visit to both FIFAMANIA and VirtuaCalcio for latest development. Phew... Okay folks, that's it for a while. What a bunch of great news, don't you think so? ;)

Official Patches Are Out!
Yup, the goss was right, folks! EA Sports have just released couple of official patches over at their FTP server. I will try to give you all some brief explanation about them.
First of all, there is an incredibly huge patch (about 90 MBs in size), and you know exactly that this huge patch can only be: the UK Commentary Patch that we all (well, disgruntled American FIFA fans that have been writing every single day to me, especially ;) have been dying for! That's right folks, John Motson, Gary Lineker, and Mark Lawrenson... Motty and the gang is BACK! =) Click here right now to get the UK Commentary Patch!
And if that whooping 90 MBs is far too big for you, you could save it for the weekend, and in the mean time, you can get the official FIFA 2000 Patch 1.0. Now, I don't know exactly what this little patch do, but since it's only 2 MBs in size, I'm sure that it would be worthy to test! ;) Click here right now to get the UK Commentary Patch!

Just incase you've been living under a rock for the past 2-3 years and you are not sure what FEd2000 is, I'll briedly explain it to you. It is the ultimate FIFA 2000 Editor. You can edit anything you ever dreamed of with players, leagues and teams. What is also very cool, is that this year Chau has found a way to allow 64 stadia to be enabled! That will mean that you can assign a stadium to all of your favourite teams correctly.

Korean League Super Patch 2000
Hiya guys! Well, sorry for the delay of news I've promised, but things were really not going well as I planned here, at my computer. It looks like more promising now, and I do have some spare time while downloading DirectX 7, so I think I'll post some decent news bites here. Okay now, here goes number one:
I have managed to get information from Tae Sung Park and the rest of the gang over at the great Korean FIFA site, FIFA Korea, that they have just released a cool big patch (about 7 MBs in size [!]) dedicated to the Korean League, titled Korean League Super Patch 2000, a must download for all of you Korean League's fans out there. For your convinience, I have put up couple of screen shots taken from the patch. Have a look below! =)
The Korean League Super Patch 2000 have some key features such as:
" Incredibly accurate and up-to-date roster of K-League 2000 season,
" Full name of all Korean League's players,
" New season logo of the K-League,
" New menu screens,
" Accurate natioal flag,
" New ad boards,
" Accurate uniforms (jerseys),
" Official ball of K-League,
" Accurate Korea squad (national team) roster and kit.
And that's not all, folks... It even gives you an updated international roster and a convinient install/uninstall function. So if you want to download it, like to see more screen shots of it, or want to know more information about it, please check out the FIFA Korea site right away! =)

IMU Beta is Officially MRA Compliant
The great new Italian Millennium Update beta patch from Vito and the lads over at bounce.to/fifa2000 is officially MRA compliant as long as you follow these
instructions.
Due to a limitation of the current version of the MRA you need to rename the directory which the IMU setup program creates from 'Data' to 'data' as the MRA
is currently case sensitive. This will be fixed in the next release of the MRA available in the next couple of weeks.
You will now be able to enjoy the benefits of the IMU and the PotD, as I do and my two boys love them both, with your one version of FIFA 2000 and just one
MRA- Enjoy!
When the official version 1 of the IMU is released it will be fully tested and certified FIFA-MRA compliant which is great news for everybody.

The Dissapearing Act
Good day, folks. It's me, Mike, and I'm finally back! =) I'm truly apologize to you all for dissapearing suddenly since about a week ago. =( Generally, it was because I have quite big problems connecting my modem to my new upgraded system. ;)
There are quite a lot of news waiting in my mailbox, and I'm really looking forward to dish some of them to you guys right after my lunch, but I'm sorry, no promise about that since I have a lot of things to do with my new system such as repartitioning my harddisk, installing actual drivers and programs, but you can have my word that there will be at least couple of decent news bites today. I have to go to have my lunch now, so I'll see you later, folks! =)
Once again, sorry for the inconviniences I've caused. Thanx for the understanding. =)
